Not last resort no less…no this is a short quip of a story of buyers who turn to their Real Estate Agent of first resort…WHY? Their hard wired

smoke detectors were going off in their newly bought home. It seems they had a brand new wood stove installed in their home and the wood stove company forgot to tell them about the ‘curing’ process a wood stove goes through. See smoke was coming from the finish of the stove.
Who to call, who will know the answer…well Ginny, our RI Real Estate Agent, must know about it?! Yes, at 7:30 p.m. last night I get the frantic call and I go through the various points- make sure that it was the wood stove problem, open doors and window, get a fan going, flip the breaker off (but make sure you flip it back on) maybe you should call the Fire department too!
I called them back a half hour later and they were okay (yes, they flipped the smoke alarm breaker back on too) but they needed to call Preston’s Trading Post in CT that should have informed them about the new wood stove breaking in period….yes, it is in the 50 page manual but really! Great customer service is sharing key points up front with the buyer. Nothing catastrophic at least and I am sure they finally slept well last night.
Momma of the house- that is what I’m going to call myself…any Rhode Island house. I can not believe they did not call their parents or friends but me…I am really touched…okay, bragging a little about it…it is nice to feel appreciated and be the local Wikipedia for smoke alarms. Actually our Fire Chief would be a far better resource to use but no complaints here. I suppose I must have done a good job for them, made them feel like they were my own kids…what do you think? I like being the RI real estate agent of First Resort in Rhode Island.
