You can buy local grass-fed meats, organic or conventional vegetables and herbs, plants, cut flowers, fruits in season, fresh baked goods and breads, fresh coffee, cheeses and spreads, crafts, and more from vendors. Dozens of vendors will be there to share their wares with all that come to support the local farmers endeavors in keeping the local farms alive. Not just a grass roots gathering of friends….this is their livelihood and they are serious about their businesses and need our local support.
Alpacas, chickens and goats are fun for the children to see and touch…it is a great farm experience to see Casey Farm hosting the Farmers Market. A true historic working farm with animals and organic produce on its premises.
As a former grower and owner of an organic farm as well as an active participant in the Farmers Market in South Kingstown for years, it is a wonderful way for both vendors and locals to give something back to the communities of North Kingstown, Jamestown, Narragansett, South Kingstown and all other towns around the Coastal Growers Farmers Market. This is freshness at its best in every way. Where else do you get to meet the grower of your produce, cheese or meat you buy first hand?
Saturday was the opening of the outside Coastal Growers Farmers Market since they have been inside on Ten Rod Road in the Lafayette Mill Complex all winter. Still as good as ever with an even wider selection as more vendors join the market. Spread out on more than an acre, the Coastal Growers Farmers Market provides entertainment for all who stop by.
This week it is wonderful live music by local musicians to enjoy and tap your feet to. Picnic tables are set up to rest the weary feet, so buy and enjoy the freshly made tacos or fresh pastries and coffee (or home made ice cream), etc. or just absorb what a wonderful gathering of community is here. Make this a stop every Saturday as you do your errands for it will be a respite from the busy week and a place to relax and connect with friends.
