The Quonset State Airport is gearing up for a phenomenal weekend of fun in the sky and down below at Quonset. This RI National
Guard air show is an event at which aviators display their flying skills and the capabilities of their aircraft to spectators in aerobatics and great flying skills. It is a FREE event! It is an amazing day of entertainment on the ground with the aircraft displays that you can go on & into and experience the thrills of being up in the blue sky. It gives kids of all ages a chance to see close up what our military personnel use in the air protecting our country. Then the amazing aerial shows are just happening all day entertaining everyone and because it is right on Narragansett Bay, it is doubly awesome. It is a world class show for all and not to be missed. Don’t you think these high performing flyers enjoy the waterfront North Kingstown views from up above too!
This RI National Guard Air Show is rated as one of the Top Three Air Shows in the country so it’s no wonder that it draws between 50,000 to 70,000 visitors to it each day!! Even the air show performers and military contributors have commented that the RI brand of great hospitality keeps them coming back to our little RI state year after year. What a nice thing for RI to be remembered for. Actually, I have not missed the RI National Guard Air Show in years…it is just a spectacular event and starting Tuesday we will begin to see our RI skies filled with the planes practicing. It is huge here when the Blue Angels fly overhead or the F-22 Raptor and you can almost touch the aircraft at they travel the North Kingstown RI waterfront and coastal shores.
Being on the tarmac and watching the aerial displays, maneuvers and just the amazing speed of these aircraft is an experience. You can bring chairs and umbrellas to sit in and shield yourself from the sun and plenty of sunscreen- there is so much to see on the ground too. Be aware that this is a military base and all bags will be searched upon entrance. No coolers or pets allowed. There is NO charge for this air show but a requested $10 donation per car goes to support local RI Charities with the largest one being Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence RI.
You can arrive starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Quonset…Air Show starts at 10 a.m. Here is the scheduled line up for this year:
