Why are Brokers Tours more than Just Time Wasted?

Why are Brokers Tours more than Just Time Wasted?

Brokers Tours are conducted every two weeks in the towns around me with RI Real Estate Agents participating from the local

Brokers Tours

areas.  Most Real Estate Agents never bother going on these tours to view the ‘inventory’ of homes on the market.  However, I do believe it is the best way to get up and personal to view every new home on the market.  Plus the added benefit is to be able to talk with your fellow Real Estate Agents about homes for sale, homes about to come on the market and compare notes on short sale transactions happening that you are involved in.  It is like having your own private database at your fingertips.

Not only did we get to enjoy some great homes the other day but we saw some high end waterfront homes that just had so much of yesteryear in them that it was just a thrill to view and share with others.  But the camraderie that develops in going on these Brokers Tours consistently flows over for later.  I can say for sure that many of these Real Estate Agents I would not have met otherwise except for meeting them on the Brokers tours.

So when I am looking for information on a short sale price or home one of them had where I might need additional comps, I can quickly call them up and ask a favor…it is a mutually beneficial exchange of information that works for all.  My outreach of knowledge just grew again!  In fact, one of the agents was able to share some great short sale information with me this past week.  Would he have done it as willingly if I had not established this to and fro information relationship with him on tour?  I don’t think so.

And yet the best piece of information I garner from the Brokers Tours is that I can tell a potential client that I have been in every home that competes with them in the market.  That is strong stuff on a listing appointment to deliver to a new client believe me.

So when you think about not making the Brokers Tour next time in your area think hard about what you may be passing up that could benefit you with your competition.  It may be a win- win situation for you as it was me!  Why are Brokers Tours more than Just Time Wasted?

Great way to think outside the box as a North Kingstown Short Sale Agent with attending brokers tours to gain additional information for your clients.

Ginny, this was an enlightening post. In this day and age where all the properties are already on the internet with most buyers shopping there first, it seemed like a waste of time to be out previewing homes. In our Community for example, a great part of the listings are located in tract area’s where we know the builders and the floor plans so it is easy to exempt them from our previewing. However, you made very valid points and in particular, the neighborhoods where there are custom homes and are all different, I now see it from a whole new perspective. When we are busy in Real Estate, every minute seems to count so it becomes a priority of time issue. Thank you for providing useful information, we often need a little nudging.
